I brought you a story yesterday about a 77 year old sex offender that had violated his parole, not by re-offending, but by being on the internet, becoming a star on youtube, and by fleeing the State he had offended in and not making authorities aware of his whereabouts. If you haven’t read it yet, you can read it here. I also mentioned Roman Polanski’s situation in that post. Here’s an update on that case: Roman Polanski. Now in these 2 cases, these 2 men have people fighting for them to be exonerated because of their celebrity status. How disgusting is that???
Now in Edward Muscare’s case the fight from supporters is that he’s 77, not hurting anyone, and they believe he’s committed no crime. That’s not true. He violated the terms of his parole, and it doesn’t matter how much you like him or how innocent his videos are, he violated the terms of his parole, and more than one. He is where he belongs. He raped a 14 year old boy in 1986.
In Roman Polanski’s case, the victim is begging the courts to drop the charges as the media is bombarding her life. She and her family are suffering because of this. Hollywood, including some leading feminists has been in a tizzy about this one saying things like what he did wasn’t rape rape. It was! He drugged and gave alcohol to a 13 year old girl and raped her. She would not have consensual sex with him before hand, and he did this during a photo shoot. He violated a child and I don’t care who he is and how much Hollywood likes him. The press should be ashamed of themselves for violating this woman’s rights. They have even been trying to lure her kids with gifts in exchange for a story. Her attorney stated that this will make it very hard for victims to come forward if their abusers are famous, and I agree. What is wrong with these people??? Her attorney’s exact words:
“He said the “lack of sensitivity” would make it less likely that other victims of celebrity crimes would come forward.”
I completely agree and the public should be outraged!!!
Not long ago one of my friends shared a story with me about a sex offender who was denied access to the Church because of the laws regarding these offenders not being within a certain amount of distance of our children. The ACLU is defending his right to go and worship and they are of course complaining about the Church being a place for forgiveness and a place for them to gain spiritual help. Check it out:
Sex Offenders Go To Court Over Being Banned From Church.
(Thanks Spacely!)
Now we debated this issue as certainly we would like for them to reform if they could, but I feel that there should be ministries for these people that should not include children. Think about it. If a person has trouble with alcohol they shouldn’t be hanging out in a bar, or a package store. Now there is a ministry that I found that is trying to work with the churches over this issue:
Now there is a lot of good information there, but I differ with having them in the church around the children, and I really feel they do need spiritual help, so I think the need for churches to create ministries in which they would not have the offenders around the children would be the best solution, and I think the offenders if they truly are working on reformation should not want to be around the children, but should want to start Bible Studies.
Now many believe that these people don’t reform and statistics do rather back that up, but let’s be very careful that we don’t give the person that has committed these heinous atrocities more rights than the innocents they could harm. What about the victims? Or potential victims???
Forgiveness is fine, but let’s not present opportunity for these people to take more victims and let’s not punish the victims for the sake of fixing the offender. I personally think that people that prey on children should not be allowed to roam free amongst us. We can forgive and still have a brain. We need to make sure we are using our brains here. I’m not inciting hate, but common sense.
Now, fast forward a bit, and we have this:
50 Children Saved From Prostitution In A Nation Wide FBI Sting.
While that was 50 children saved, I wonder how many more are out there going through this. Kudos to the FBI for doing this. Great Job! I think it’s a sad statement that there are so many sickos that want to prey on our children. Any grown person that is sexually attracted to a child is completely sick and should be banished from society period!
Now with Halloween approaching police are warning of the sexual predators:
Sexual Predators On The Lose For Halloween.
Now that was a Central Florida warning, but I’m just sure the warnings would be the same everywhere. This kind of abuse is happening all over the country. Most of the time not only are the victims assaulted, but they are murdered, and while all sexual predators don’t murder, it doesn’t matter, they are still destroying lives and violating others. Please be careful as my guess is they will be on the prowl. Watch your children carefully. Don’t let them out of your sight, or the sight of a trusted adult. Please consider Halloween alternatives.
In closing I would like to say this……….Let’s protect our children. God expects us to do just that.

Here is the part I don’t understand… “In Roman Polanski’s case, the victim is begging the courts to drop the charges as the media is bombarding her life.”
I completely understand her wish to deflect the media. However, rather than asking the courts to dismiss the case, she should be asking Roman to voluntarily give himself up to justice as he should have done 30 years ago. The media is not going to go away even if the courts dismissed the case because Roman will still be a celebrity and it is he that draws the media attention. Scrutiny is at an all time high because of recent events, but Roman is causing the spike in that coverage by fighting extradition.
A grown man having sex, even assuming consent, with an underage girl is rape. Pure and simple. It doesn’t make any difference if she wanted to or not. She was not of an age to make that decision. Roman is a pedophile who acted on his desires despite the harm to a young child (and let’s not pretend she was not harmed, obviously she was and continues to be harmed by his actions as witnessed by her desire for this all to go away).
The people defending Ed are not very bright and apparently are completely ignorant of exactly how child rape is normally committed in today’s world. When a child rapist has access to the internet, they have the ability to target literally thousands of possible victims, to have lengthy chats, to form relationships, and to build trust before ever actually meeting someone. The claim that he has not hurt anyone is ludicrous (as he did hurt someone very badly, hence his punishments) and ignores the fact that he is currently building towards a new crime by using the very tools he has been prohibted by law from accessing. And why would someone in his position move out of state? Ummm… to avoid scrutiny by local law enforcement? To trap new victims who are unaware of his past history because of his illegal move? Most people would describe this behavior as “on the run”. If he was out on bond, a bailbondsman would state he “jumped bail”.
In other words, if there was a guy in a bank with a gun and a mask on after closing hours rifling through the stacks of cash in the safe, would these same defenders of personal rights be claiming that he is “not hurting anyone” and had “committed no crime”?
Awesome Spacely! Very well said!!! I completely agree, and with these kinds of atrocities happening at such an alarming rate, I can’t believe anyone in their right mind would want to put our children even more at risk.
You are correct about Roman and Ed, and they are no better than the dirt bags that the FBI just rounded up in the child prostitution ring. Children are being violated and you are so right that anyone under age is off limits. It’s rape pure and simple. Those guys both Roman and Ed as well as the rest of them are responsible for destroying lives, whether they murdered them or raped them or both, not one pedophile is any better than another.
You will love this story:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091027/ap_on_re_us/us_fla_teacher_sex
The problem with her request is that she is asking to be able to visit with the children of her relatives – the exact class of children that is most vulnerable to a pedophile because they may be in a position of trust because of the family relationship.
I felt like she should have had a tougher sentence to start with. I’m amazed that she would have the guts to do this, but apparently she’s pretty gutsy. Hope they tell her NO!
I don’t care in the case of a woman, they are just as sick. Just look at poor little Sandra Cantu’s case. Even if they are after boys, they still affect the rest of their lives, and I think it’s a negative effect. They are just as much predators, as the men.
Another article for your collection:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6690171.html
In this one, a 37 year old man uses religion and possibly his ties to a church to lure young teenage girls into a “secret society” in which their main activety is fulfilling his sexual fantasies.
Although he does not appear to be previously convicted, the article does illustrate that even church is not a safe place for children and parents need to be involved and aware even in the youth ministries of their churches to ensure proper conduct of adult members.
Niecey,
I would like to send flowers to little Robert Manwell’s grave. Do you know how or where to send them?
Hey Spacely! That is sick!!! I’m totally amazed how some sicko can try and use the Christian faith to do something like this. It’s not going to be pretty when he faces God one day.
Hey Hadley! I have no idea, but the best link I could find that you could probably find out is this one:

And possibly this one:

There is a ministry staffed with experts from the sex offender management field protecting church kids from sex offenders who attend church.
18%-24% of all sex offenders are churchgoers. Many attend church secretly without their probation or church leaders knowledge.
Keeping Kids Safe Ministries has a certification program for churches to protect kids from sex offenders. For more information visit their website: http://www.KidsSafeMinistries.com
Thanks,
Greg
Hey Greg! Welcome!!! I want to thank you for sharing that info with us. Very interesting, and greatly appreciated. I knew there must be ministries that dealt with this sort of thing. The Church has many, many outreaches, as it should.
“Many attend church secretly without their probation or church leaders knowledge. ”
This is exactly why they are feared. You have to question the motives of a person who would attend a church service to honor Jesus Christ by employing deception and violating their civil punishments. I suppose you could liken them to the early Christians in Rome who would meet in secret because of the terrible punishments that the Romans would inflict for worshipping an outlawed deity. But I don’t think that applies here because they do have a choice to worship through other means, such as the ministries listed in the above comments.
A church is a group of people brought together through faith and held together by trust. Attempting to enter the church through deception will only further isolate the individual from the congregation.
The following is the best summary of the Polanski case I have read to date:

Niecey,
Here is a follow-up to yesterday’s story about child molester seeking visits with children of relatives and friends:

They granted her request, so she now has legal access to kids again. Way to go, legal system…
Spacely I do agree that the secrecy is part of the problem, and I would think that while I know their may be some degree of guilt and shame, that if a person were to be honest, well “the truth shall set you free”. Being an honest person is a very important part of a person being a Christian. How can a person ever come clean with God if they can’t be honest??? To repent means to confess, be sorry for and turn away from the sin, if a person can’t confess it, then I’m not sure how they can truly be sorry for it. JMO.
Since I posted this I’ve had a few conversations about this subject with both my hubby and a dear friend of mine, and my oldest son. I looked at the stats on these things, and while the re-offend percentage rate is relatively low in the first year, within 25 years a rapist is has a re-offend rate of 51%, and a pedophile 52%. I had a guy trying to comment here that had much lower numbers, and was really trying to say that this is a crime that is very rare.
His links lead back to a site that is an advocate to change the laws for sex offenders and stop ruining many of their lives. I just couldn’t allow it, as when I went on his site it was showing I was there and where I was coming from. Comments deleted.
He was correct about a couple of points and these very points were brought up in my conversations
First if 2 young teenagers have sex that have been going through school together and her parents press statutory rape, and he’s only a year or two older than the girl, then he’s not a sexual predator. There are also cases where woman accuse a man of rape, and it wasn’t, and in those cases if they find that absolutely, then I think the woman should be punished for bringing false allegations, but at the same time, these things make it harder for true rape to be prosecuted. I think that somehow we have got to make it where you can sort out pedophiles and rapists from the rest. They are the most likely to re-offend. Our system is somewhat flawed on this issue. I don’t think the victim that has gone to the doctor and has bruises and wounds and it has been proved that she or he was raped, I believe they shouldn’t be allowed to put the victim on trial from there. I think that trashing the victims’ lives when there is no doubt should be off limits, as well as publicity of their cases. The press should respect their privacy.
Now with all this said. I’m appalled about Polanski! The guy’s a perv and anyone in Hollywood that defended that freak should no longer be supported in their profession. Thank you for sharing his story.
I think shame and humiliation for a sexual predator is the least they deserve.
Including Ms. LaFave, who abused her position. I think people that pray on children should be locked up for life.
I think people that rape, should be locked up for life. At the very least if they can’t do that, they should be supervised for life, and I don’t think they have the power to do that on that lever. JMO.
This is interesting:

This too:

I messed up on the rate of re-offend on rapists, in 25 years it’s 39%, and 52% on pedophiles.
Here’s the link for that:
